translated from Spanish: Half the country “sent the devil” to AMLO!

In the midst of the worst health crisis in history – nearly a hundred thousand dead at the end of October 2020; of the greatest risk of insecurity – with more than 60,000 violent deaths – and the greatest economic tragedy in half a century – the fall in GDP to minus 18 percent – a political calamity is coming even worse and of unindited proportions in the Mexican state.

The imminent possibility of breaking the federal pact, which is nothing more than the agreement that maintains the political and economic unity of the country’s 32 federal entities and, above all, the sharing of public money. Or not, as the number of state governments demanding a “new fiscal pact” increases to 14, the separatist danger posed by almost half of the country’s state governments, in front of a president who, day by day, confirms his traits, not only authoritarian, but dictatorial, grows. Worst of all, however, is that all these crises, risks, tragedies and calamities have been detonated by one man, the same one who is already seen – by his own strangers – as the worst Mexican president in history; the failed López Obrador. And it is that, whether we like it or not, we attend not only the failure of the government of the most voted president, but the failure of politics; which is nothing but the failure of reason, dialogue, negotiation and agreement. And, faced with the total failure of AMLO’s management, half the country decided to “send the devil” to the Mexican president – become the new Latin American dictator – precisely because of his dictatorial stance, by driving public money wagons, for clientele purposes and in favor of his party. But we’re going in parts. It is clear that it is not new – to anyone – that the governors of the 32 federal entities have historically fought their respective autonomy – political and fiscal – in the face of central power. Moreover, the National Conference of Governors (Conago) was a successful promotion of Ricardo Monreal, the then perrist governor of Zacatecas, and today severe critics of the autonomy demanded by state representatives, grouped in the Federalist Alliance of Gobernadores.Es i.e. Ricardo Monreal and his boss, López Obrador, fight today, everything they promoted yesterday; autonomy of states. So, in addition to the flagrant inconsistency of the official party, its government and its president, the new thing is that the number of federalist representatives who demand a fair and balanced distribution of public money grew. That is, it was only in the last hours – on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 28, 2020 – that the Federalist Alliance of Governors was strengthened and all the governors of the National Action Party who, at the same time, are part of the Association of Governors of the PAN (GOAN) joined its ranks. Simply put, it turns out that a total of 14 state governments – which together account for 49.9% of national GDP – are already part of the political group calling on López Obrador’s government for a new Federal Fiscal Pact. And in the face of the new calamity it forces to ask. What does a break with the central government, of the federal entities that contribute 50 percent of gross domestic product? How will such a breakup impact, for example, on the largest election in history; how will it impact each of the 14 states? What impact will it have on federal elections, that 14 governments are in “war” with the federal government; in defending its resources, while the central government wastes money for electoral purposes? How much will the regionalism of each of the entities facing López Obrador’s centralist and dictatorial government impact the election, in the sense of voting, especially when the arrogant tropical president refuses to recognize the demands of the federalists? The truth is that there is no record of such an electoral political dispute, let alone in the midst of the worst health crisis in history, of the worst calamity of violence and the most chilling economic crisis. As you know, the governments facing President Obrador are Those of Aguascalientes, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Guanajuato, Durango, Quintana Roo, Tamaulipas and Yucatan; all panista and belonging to the Association of Governors of National Action. But also belong to the Federalist Alliance the priista governments of Colima and Coahuila; the kennel of Michoacán, the independent of Nuevo León and that of the Citizen Movement, of Jalisco. And yes, after the health, violence and economic crises, we already experienced the fourth tragedy; that of the breakup of the Federal Compact, yes, four tragedies in just 23 months of the AMLO government; the worst of all governments in history. At the same time.
