According to the Undersecretary of Prevention and Promotion of Health, Hugo López-Gatell, eight other countries besides Mexico are participating in Janssen’s clinical trial.
Lopez-Gatell said that up to 20,000 people are planned for Phase 3 trials and that the volunteer information collection process is likely to be closed on December 21 for analysis.
“By participating in the clinical trial, Mexico is eligible for prioritization by Janssen for its highly effective vaccine,” he said.

In addition to Janssen, the pharmaceutical company CanSino Biologics is also in phase 3 of testing its COVID-19 vaccine.

Mexico has signed COVID-19 vaccine pre-buy agreements to protect up to 116 million people, Marcelo Ebrard said on 13 October.
