translated from Spanish: 80s pop is the best music to reduce anxiety

A team of researchers from Turkey revealed that 1980s pop is the best musical genre for reducing anxiety, blood pressure and also heart rate. Why? According to the experts, this was because of the “positive nostalgia” that this music would generate in people.
To achieve these results, the professional team analyzed 1,540 people between the age of 18 and 65, who were connected with blood pressure and heart rate monitors, which allowed them to show an overview of their anxiety levels.
Subsequently, they were given a variety of music from different eras and genres on Spotify, as a result of which it was discovered that up-and-age pop music reduced blood pressure by 96% of volunteers and heart rate by more than a third of them.
“These successes (…) they might have an attached positive nostalgia for many people, and their cheerful and party sounds can induce the release of endorphins and serotonin, which increases feelings of happiness and calm,” said Dr. Emer Avlanmis, one of the researchers in the recently revealed study.
The second place of the “anxiolytics” of music turned out to be for metal. 89% of volunteers had a decrease in their blood pressure and heart rate was reduced by an average of 18% when they heard it.
