translated from Spanish: Senator Pizarro dismisses cabinet change following government defeat at the TC: “The worst thing one can do right now is to call for resignations from political teams”

Senate Vice-President Jorge Pizarro referred to the option of a cabinet change in the government of Sebastián Piñera following the enactment of the third congressional retirement.
In an interview with TVN’s Midnight, Senator DC stated that “politically, ministers are trusted people of the President. He will know who made the mistake and who assumes it. If he did, it’s absurd for him to change his ministers.”
“If ministers did not act as appropriate or mis counseled or were wrong, it will already be his decision. The worst thing one can do right now is to call for resignations from political teams when the government is in a very serious state of weakness. The President is with very low credibility, the governing parties are not backing him,” Pizarro stressed.
In the same line he also brazened a possible resignation from President Piñera: “It is our responsibility to worry about the health of our democratic system, and nothing is taken away by saying ‘the President is on the ground, so let us hit him’, as some say. The President was democratically elected by a majority of Chileans and he has to finish his term.”
“Our responsibility, from the point of view of the politicians in opposition, is to be able to give the country an alternative of a real government to the country over what has been this management of the right, because if we are not able to create that alternative that people have peace of mind and confidence that things can and should be done much better than what this President has done , we would be sickled by omission, committing a very great sin,” he closed.
