This Saturday there was no televised balance of the pandemic, however the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, still took the opportunity to comment on the situation of the Covid-19 in Chile, after casting his vote this Saturday at the Lyceum Carmela Carvajal in Providencia.
The head of the Ministry of Health (Minsal) recognized Cooperative that the pandemic scenario “remains complex” with figures of new contagions bordering on 7,000. “Tomorrow’s figures, which I don’t have yet, I hope are better,” Dr Paris added.
This Saturday, the portfolio reported 6,769 new cases of the virus. According to Paris, “the calculations will point to more than 5,000, 5,300 average weekly,” in the coming days, admitting that “the stage is still complex, especially in the Metropolitan Region, where we’ve had a 6% increase in the last week, and that worries us a lot, and the number of inhabitants weighs heavily,” he said.
Despite the calculations, the health holder highlighted “very positive facts: bed occupancy has greatly decreased (criticism, today around 92%), the number of patients in ICU, especially older adults, has decreased; mortality fell.” He added that “that means the vaccine is taking effect (…) gives us some hope that cases will start to decrease.”
