translated from Spanish: World BirthRights Day: The Decalogue

With the aim of creating awareness of the importance of the birth of every human being as well as respecting the bond that is created between mother and baby from the first moment, every June 7 is celebrated the World Day of the Rights of the Nacimiento.La date aims to assert and respect the rights that all children and mothers of the world have so that the birth is carried out in the least traumatic way possible, always thinking about the woman and the well-being of the future baby.

Why is World BirthRights Day important?
Because every birth represents a unique and indelible moment in the life of any human being. For that reason, this date is a reminder to respect the natural process of birth and to inform pregnant people of the different options that exist when giving birth. This day is directly related to the Week of Respected Childbirth or “humanized childbirth” refers to respect for the rights of mothers, children and their families at the time of birth.

The term “respected childbirth” refers to the woman following her own desire for childbirth avoiding all kinds of unnecessary interventions, as well as to decide how to control pain during childbirth. Thus, it promotes respect for the particularities of each family, accompanying it through safe and informed decision-making. Respected childbirth implies generating a family space where the mother and the newborn are the protagonists and where the birth takes place in the most natural way possible. Decalogue of BirthRights
