The weeks leading up to the election were marked by what was called the “dirty war,” with speeches in conversations, lawsuits, and lawsuits. All this added to a constant denation of the list of opposition against the figure of Mario Desbordes; whom they accused of being politically responsible for the state in which the sector is located.
Today, from 09.00 hours this Saturday, the national renewal (RN) militancy goes to the polls to define its new directive. The options are the lists led by mario desbordes, also president of the store and Senator Francisco Chahuán. The latter opened fire, early, declaring to be the second air of the complicated ruling party, and with accusations of irregularities in the process.
It is worth mentioning that the voting will take place in person, until 18.00 hours and with 146 polling places throughout the country, the 42 thousand authorized militants will define their new national directive. The new directives will also be defined at the regional, district and communal levels, while the communal and regional councillors of the party, who participate in its General Council, will be elected.
“Winds of change are blowing in The National Renewal,” senator Chahuan said, ruling that “those who wanted to advance the presidential race before having elections for our militants were wrong.”
“Today we want us to recover the soul of RN, to recover the known domicile of our party. And start rebuilding RN and then our coalition,” he added.
In this regard, Chahuán pointed to certain irregularities in the party’s internal process. “There have been some problems in some districts,” he said, noting that the issue has already been raised privately with the party president “and I hope that they will be corrected as soon as possible,” he said.
“This is happening in Lampa and Lo Prado, where initially the representatives of our list were not being allowed to enter polling places. Another situation occurred in Marga Marga, where the votes did not arrive,” he explained. Chahuán hopes that these issues will be resolved “because today is a very important day for the RN militants.”
“Today the winds of change begin,” he reiterated, “and we hope that this will will be expressed at the ballot box.” According to the senator, the RN must be able to rise again, “because if we are not able to strengthen ourselves as an influential party and capable of recovering the street, and if we are not able to rebuild our coalition, we may face an electoral disaster.”
For his part, Desbordes told Emol that “this weekend we are fundamentally gambling on the political project in which the RN is going to be, to which it adheres, a Social Christian right, in solidarity, with a deep social vocation, linked to the modern rights of Europe, to the German right of Chancellor Merkel, of the People’s Party or a right that is no different in any way from the UDI , a National Renewal that is no different from Republicans (of José Antonio Kast)”.
Both lists differ in diagnosis in the deepest. While from the list headed by Chahuán the standard-bearer of his party is blamed for “leftist” the store and that for that reason RN suffered two defeats in the elections of mayors, councilors and regional governors, from the list of Desbordes they counterattack by affirming that that look, precisely, with which they evade observing and attending to the real country , that of the Rejection sector, is the one that has been defeated in the last four elections.
From the overflowing sector, they accused that their rivals, far from carrying out a debate with a future perspective, “have insisted on promoting an anachronistic right, capable of reusing old reprehensible practices, such as the dirty war, to hide their inability to face the challenges of today’s Chile.”
By order of the Ministry of the Interior, since these are elections covered by the Law on Political Parties, even in those communes in quarantine, militants will be authorized to travel to the polling stations carrying their identity card and indicating the address of origin and destination, if they are inspected.
All preventive measures with regard to health have been arranged at each polling place, as has happened in the recent national electoral processes.
