They confirmed the prosecution and pretrial detention of Patricio Leonel Reynoso, accused of the femicide of Pilar Riesco. Reynoso is accused of throwing what was then his girlfriend on the balcony of the house they both shared in the neighborhood of Nueva Pompeya in March 2020.La room 5 of the National Court of Appeals in criminal and correctional matters rejected the challenge of the 32-year-old and considered that the evidence has “distorted or at least questioned” the defendant’s version that the girl was thrown for their own means.

The version of Reynoso and a witness of his defense fell “in front of the incontrovertible evidence that gave account of the absence of fingerprints on the surface of the railing of the balcony from which Riesco would have been taken before falling into the void,” the camera said. In turn, they noted that Riesco’s medical history and the testimony of several people close to the couple confirmed “the context of violence in which the relationship with Reynoso developed.” In addition, the camera took into account “the number of injuries found on the body of the victim and, fundamentally, that verified in the neck area. Reynoso would have exerted a force greater than that deployed by Pilar Riesco during the physical aggression prior to the fatal outcome, which exceeds what could be expected in the framework of a defense action.”
Along these lines, they confirmed the pretrial detention of the accused since for the Chamber there is a risk of escape and obstruction of the investigation. In turn, the victim’s relatives confessed to feeling unprotected and fearing for their safety as a result of which they were provided with an anti-panic button. It is worth remembering that the accused surrendered after being at large for two months. For all that, Reynoso will continue to be imprisoned for the crime of “homicide doubly qualified by the link and by mediating gender violence.”
