The Canadian sprinter, André de Grasse, took the 200 meters event at the Olympic Games being the new Olympic monarch of the event, succeeding the historic Usain Bolt.De Grasse did not have the best start, however, he did have the best closing of the competition, staying with the first place with a time of 19.62 seconds , new personal record and best historical time for your country.

“After the 100 metres (third place) I was a little disappointed with myself, I think I could have done better. So I told myself I had to go for the 200 meters,” explained De Grasse.Second and third place went to Americans Kenneth Bednarek and Noah Lyles, with times of 19.68, and 19.74 respectively. De Grasse, 26, took third place in the 100-meter dash in Tokyo, but in his favorite competition, the 200, he achieved his goal, as well as setting the eighth-best mark of all time.

“I knew the Americans were going to put pressure on me and they were going to lead me to have to make a personal best. It’s been five years since I’ve got past it, so it’s been good to get that out of it,” he added. In this way, finally comes the time of the Canadian, who in Rio 2016 achieved bronze in 100 meters flat, and silver in the 200, only behind Usain Bolt.In his career, De Grasse accumulates 5 Olympic medals, a gold, a silver and 3 bronzes
