Between promises and demands, Fernández had lunch with businessmen at Casa Rosada

President Alberto Fernández had lunch today at Casa Rosada with a group of businessmen with whom he seeks to outline a series of agreements once the general elections in November have passed. On behalf of the government, the Chief of Cabinet, Juan Manzur, participated; the Minister of the Interior, Eduardo “Wado” de Pedro; and the head of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa.

Among the representatives of the private sector were Javier Madanes (Aluar and Fate), Alejandro Simón (Grupo Sancor Seguros), Hugo Eurnekian (Corporación América), Marcelo Mindlin (Pampa Energía), Francisco De Narváez (Grupo De Naváez), Jorge Brito (Banco Macro), Juan Martín de la Serna (Mercado Libre) and Marcos Bulgheroni (PAE). On the executive side they promised to “continue increasing investments” but also made a claim to “get the double compensation and the prohibition of dismissals.”

For its part, the national government promised to “retrace” a series of measures that during the pandemic were aimed at “the protection of work”. From Casa Rosada they highlighted the positive opinion that the employers have of the representatives of the workers since “sectorally they all had good ties”.

At lunch, the agreement with the International Monetary Fund and the importance of the support of businessmen were discussed, who according to the NA agency were “concerned about the silence of Together for Change” in this regard. We need to have the support of businessmen and the opposition to reach a better deal. Support was requested from businessmen to go more strongly to insist on what Argentina wants,” they said.
