Fernanda Urrejola makes series of “The House of the Spirits” with Eva Longoria

None other than the Hollywood figure Eva Longoria will be the protagonist of the television adaptation of “La casa de los espíritus” that is being co-described by the national actress Fernanda Urrejola with her partner, the filmmaker Francisca Alegría, who in turn will direct the television series. As published yesterday by the American media Deadline, Longoria will embody Blanca Trueba in the megaproduction of the international firm FilmNation Entertainment, producer and distributor behind great titles of the big screen, such as “Pain and Glory”, by Pedro Almodóvar, and “The Irishman”, by Martin Scorsese. The character is one of the women of the Trueba family, through which Allende portrays in his famous novel the changes that Chile suffered -where the story takes place- “It is a true honor to bring one of Isabel Allende’s iconic works to the screen for audiences around the world alongside FilmNation, Francisca and Fernanda,” Longoria said in a statement. This is a story rich in themes of family, love and magic. I’m excited to show the world the beauty, creativity and masterclass talent that our community continues to produce,” added the American actress who became known as one of the protagonists of the series “Desperate Housewives.” For his part, Alegría, who has been making a career in Los Angeles for several years, commented that “it is an honor to adapt ‘The house of the spirits of Isabel Allende'”. “I am a devoted admirer of her work and her as an artist, and this novel is a fundamental piece of Latin American culture,” she added. “Fernanda and I are beyond excited to develop this series with our wonderful producers at FilmNation and to have the exceptional Eva Longoria as Blanca.” Since she decided to leave her career in Chile behind, Fernanda Urrejola has added outstanding projects to her resume, the last of them was nothing less than Clint Eastwood’s most recent film “Cry Macho.” The House of spirits” had previously been brought to the screen, in the 1993 film starring Jeremy Irons and Meryl Streep, which had no box office success or critical acclaim. Already in 2018 the adaptation of the novel to the small screen had been announced with the same FilmNation for the streaming platform Hulu and with Allende herself as executive producer.
