Armed group attack in Oaxaca leaves 5 dead

At least 5 people were killed and 25 houses burned by an armed group of approximately 70 people that broke into the communities of Guerrero Grande and Mier y Terán, in the municipality of San Esteban Atatlahuca, in Oaxaca. 
In these communities, displaced families from the Ndoyonuyuji community were sheltering, who had previously received a first attack on October 21.
Through his Facebook page the Center for Human Rights and Advice to Indigenous Peoples A.C (Cedhapi) explained that at least three of the deceased were elderly and were inside their home when they were burned by the armed group.

The names of the deceased are Marcos Barrio Avendaño, 80 years old; Marcos Quiroz Reaño, 65; Tomás García Barrios, 41 years old; Paulina Sandoval Bautista, 95; and Teodoro Velasco Sandoval, 95. The last two were those who could not leave their home before the fire started in their homes.

On the previous aggressions, details the civil association, they began on October 21 when 25 houses were burned in the community of Ndoyonuyuji, in the municipality of San Esteban Atatlahuca, in Oaxaca. Due to this fact, 25 forcibly displaced families are reported in the facilities of the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples (INPI) of Tlaxiaco. 

The Cedhapi adds that due to the events that occurred on October 23, there are another 30 people sheltered in the community of Mier and Terán. He also estimates that there are more affected families who remain hidden to protect their lives. 
The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Oaxaca (FGEO) reported that after the incidents it is carrying out investigative work in conjunction with the State Police, National Guard, Secretariat of National Defense, General Secretariat of Government and the Ombudsman for the Human Rights of the People of Oaxaca.
