Senate committees accelerate approval of fiscal package; goes to plenary

The joint commissions of Finance and Public Credit, and of Second Legislative Studies approved, with a majority of Morena, the opinions on Fiscal Miscellaneous, Federal Law of Rights and Income Law of 2022.
Opposition senators said that in the face of the rush to advance the package without modifications, they will present their reservations in the Plenary.

The approved opinion maintains the proposal of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador that young people over 18 years of age be compulsorily registered in the Federal Taxpayers Registry (RFC), as of the first of January.
The cap on deductions for donations made by individuals to civil organizations was also maintained, which could stop receiving funding to serve people with limited resources.
With regard to the Federal Law on Rights, which provides for increases in the cost of issuing passports, charges for immigration services, for customs services and the right to obtain security codes on packs of cigarettes or other manufactured tobacco.
Civil organizations have pointed out to Animal Político that, with this new provision, “we are doomed to extinction, and those most affected will be the most vulnerable.”
