In New Social Pact they also condemn the raid on Commons: PPD criticizes the “television show” and the PS points out that the operation was “improper in a democracy”

The media raid on the headquarters of Comunes hours after the election in the Karina Oliva case was not only condemned by Apruebo Dignidad and after leftist forces. Also from New Social Pact joined the reproaches and both the Socialist Party and the Party for Democracy issued statements.
The PS points out in its text that although the facts “must be investigated diligently for their total clarification and punishment, in case of proving crimes”, this “does not justify the disproportionate police action in the raid of the headquarters of the Commons Party”.
“We condemn the use of force and the excessive action in the police procedure, improper in a democracy,” they say, calling on “the Public Ministry to act decisively and zealously in the investigation, but with prudence and responsibility.”
The PPD, meanwhile, said that “all of Chile witnessed an inadequate and incorrect judicial and police action, where, with a promptness and firmness that we have not seen in even more serious cases of economic crimes, the headquarters of Comunes, the party to which Ms. Oliva belongs, was raided.”
“Not only do we condemn and categorically reject this fact, but we regret that it has been done with an unusual publicity, worthy of a television show and that remind us of dark passages of our recent history, totally extemporaneous to a democracy,” the party statement states.
The PPD adds that “we believe that this case and others that were also revealed by the media should be thoroughly investigated, such as the candidacies of the right that correspond to the same period that is being investigated today, but not using the brute and disproportionate force that we saw last night, out of all logic and that only shows that there is still a justice that protects the most powerful in this country.”
