Senate ratifies Victoria Rodríguez member of the Board of Banxico

With 78 votes in favor, 21 against and 10 abstentions, the Senate of the Republic ratified Victoria Rodríguez Ceja as a new member of the Governing Board of the Bank of Mexico (Banxico).

Endorsement in committee appointment of Rodríguez Ceja
Previously, the Finance and Public Credit Commission endorsed, with 14 votes in favor and six against, the opinion approving the proposal to appoint Victoria Rodríguez Ceja as a member of the Governing Board of the Bank of Mexico.

Despite the fact that, during the discussion, the opposition pointed out that Rodríguez Ceja did not meet the requirements to be governor of Banxico.

The senator of the Plural Group, Gustavo Enrique Madero Muñoz, said that the official has the profile to be a member of the Board of Directors, but does not meet the requirements established by the Bank of Mexico Law to occupy the place of Governor.

The senator of Movimiento Ciudadano, Luis David Ortiz Salinas, stressed that the opinion should clarify that, due to its capacity, a person is elected to the Governing Board of the Bank of Mexico; but not to be Governor, because she does not have the five years of experience that are required for it.
Juan Pablo de Botton, new Undersecretary of Expenditures
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported, this morning, that Juan Pablo de Botton will be the new undersecretary of Expenditures of the Ministry of Finance.
De Botton will replace Victoria Rodriguez Ceja, who currently serves in that role.

On November 24, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that he would propose Victoria Rodríguez Ceja to be the governor of the Bank of Mexico (Banxico).
