609 drivers referred after falling into the CDMX breathalyzer

In the first eight days of the “Drive Without Alcohol” program focused on the holidays, the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City reported that 609 drivers were referred to the corresponding authorities after exceeding the limits of alcohol allowed in the blood. During the start of the December operation, around 96,000 tests have been applied to vehicle drivers 24 hours a day. For the operation, 805 police officers and 123 vehicles were deployed in 23 checkpoints per day, with 7 points for daytime days and 16 points for night days, together with the use of tools such as the “Alcostop”, which detects alcohol levels in the environment, with which 92,880 tests have been carried out on drivers, the SSC said in a statement. In the case of breathalyzer tests by aspirated air, three thousand 116 have been applied, result of which 614 drivers tested positive to the allowed limits of alcohol in the blood.
