Gabriel Boric was elected President of the Republic in elections with historic participation

The Servel reported that after the scrutiny of 99.84% of the tables counted, the candidate of Apruebo Dignidad, Gabriel Boric obtains 55.87% (4,614,469 votes) and José Antonio Kast of the Christian Social Front achieves 44.13% (3,645,303 votes). With the results and after the recognition by Kast, Gabriel Boric was elected President of the Republic, and will be the youngest ruler in history. The second round of the presidential elections also had a historic participation that already reaches 8,353,835 votes, surpassing the vote for a new Constitution of 2020 and the Plebiscite of 1988. In addition, Boric became the most voted President surpassing Eduardo Frei in 1993.  The historic participation in the second round of these presidential elections also generated that Kast is the most voted losing candidate in an election in the country, and the seventh candidate overall with the highest vote. Election DayAs established by law, the counting of the votes began after 6 p.m. after the closing of the polling stations. The day was marked by the vote of the candidates, Gabriel Boric, in Magallanes and, José Antonio Kast in Paine and by the last vote as President sebastián Piñera, who said he will call whoever is President-elect to warn him that being a candidate is different from being a ruler. He also highlighted the presence of former President Michelle Bachelet, who ruled out that her support for the candidate of Apruebo Dignidad could be described as “interventionism.” However, the highlight of the day was in the complaints of users of low-frequency public transport in the circulation of buses in various areas of the country. Gabriel Boric’s campaign manager, Izkia Siches, accused a government operation, a question that La Moneda responded harshly by accusing that such sayings were “blatantly lying to the country.” The Servel, meanwhile, expressed concern to the Minister of Transport Gloria Hutt.
