Biden and his wife, Jill, followed the tradition of chatting with some callers who called a special line to follow Santa’s journey, which has been tracked since 1955 by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (Norad). That’s how the president and his wife, from the White House, connected with a man who identified himself as Jared, a father of four. “Come on Brandon, I agree,” the President said. That phrase actually means “Fuck Joe Biden.” It was not clear if the president caught the reference at the time. On Twitter, in addition, a user shared the “other side” of this call, which shows the man who was on the other side of the phone.
The story of the phrase
It all started with a mistake by an NBC reporter interviewing racing driver Brandon Brown, following his victory at a NASCAR track in early October. Raising his voice to cover the noise coming from the stands, he said: “And you can hear the audience chanting: Come on, Brandon!” Actually, what you could hear was the crowd chanting Joe Biden! The phrase “Let’s Go Brandon” quickly became a slogan to insult Joe Biden without using the outlawed “F word.” In addition to Trump supporters, even prominent Republican politicians have embraced the phrase.
