Silvio Romero and his departure from Independiente: “I needed to change the air”

Silvio Romero made a decision that druante for a while was shuffling with Independiente and that occurs in a particular context of the club, in terms of the leadership and the economic crisis. After four years, he accepted a proposal from Fortaleza to reach Brazil and gain tranquility after a step with many ups and downs. In what was an unexpected surprise for the fans and Eduardo Domínguez, the “Chino” explained the reasons why he decided on a new course, supported especially by the familiarity that entails. “As a family we needed to change the air and I am grateful to Independiente, and I tried to give him everything I could. The leadership understood my need,” he said.
“I told him it was a family issue. We need something else. I didn’t feel the desire to face what is coming,” confirmed the 33-year-old, captain of the team and who on more than one occasion raised to defend his interests and that of his teammates, in a tense climate. Precisely, about this situation, he said that when he arrived in 2018 “it was time to leave champions of the South American and today it is another reality. That also generates wear and tear because in this club the demand is very high and if the day to day is not entirely comfortable, everything is done against the grain,” he added. Independiente decided to fire the player with a message on social networks, who became the top scorer in the last decade. “Silvio Romero was loaned with an option to buy to Fortaleza of Brazil. Four years, more than 50 goals and a cup. Successes for what’s to come, Chinese Red Heart.”

In the face of so much affection, he avoided referring to a possible second stage. “It is premature to think about a future return to Independiente. What I do thank the fans who supported me these four years and now I ask them to continue encouraging this team, which has many young people who need encouragement.” He also closed that he retires from Independiente “with a lot of nostalgia, for everything he lived for four years, especially for the colleagues, for the props, the technical bodies that passed and for the people who provide affection day by day.”
