Sectur calls on entrepreneurs to promote a new era in tourism

The Secretary of Tourism, Migue Torruco Marqués called on companies and entrepreneurs to promote a new reality in the country’s tourism activity under the situations they face today. This was pointed out by the official when inaugurating the V International Congress of the Women’s Association of Executives of Tourism Companies (AFEET), where he highlighted the main bastions of tourism in Mexico, such as the 35 sites declared Natural and Cultural Heritage by Unesco, 235 places of tourist vocation, 132 Magical Towns, 193 archaeological zones, and 1,402 museums among others. In addition, he stressed that Mexico has “talent, experience, drive and creativity from our service providers, entrepreneurs and investors, who, despite the adverse circumstances, do not shy away, or lower their guard, but look forward.” In this sense, Torruco Marqués mentioned to the businessmen that they must think and reflect on what they want to offer to visitors since the nature that is lived today demands it. so he indicated that many of the tourists will want to enjoy nature, open spaces and the cultural richness of the places and avoid overcrowding.” In this scenario, and given the new profile of the tourist, our Magical Towns, due to their tourist offer, are presented with great potential to attract new flows of visitors, and therefore, they are destinations to promote, “said Torruco Marqués.For this reason he highlighted the importance of strengthening domestic tourism that only during 2019 meant a total of 259 million tourists, of which 102 million stayed in hotels.
