Formula 1 cancelled the Russian Grand Prix

Formula 1 decided today after a meeting with the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and the teams of the category to cancel the Russian Grand Prix, which was scheduled for September 25, in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. “We spoke to the FIA, together with the teams, about the position that our sport has and the conclusion is that it is impossible to bring the Russian Grand Prix in return in the current circumstances,” the statement added. It is worth mentioning that a few hours before this announcement the world champions, the Dutchman Max Verstappen and the German Sebastian Vettel, had announced that in case the Grand Prix was run they would not go to Sochi.On the other hand, the American team Haas did not use on the last day of testing in Barcelona the Russian brand Uralkali, which is a sponsor of the team, due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
