The rock world says goodbye to Taylor Hawkins

After the sad news of the death of Taylor Hawkins, drummer of Foo Fighters, who was found dead this Friday in the room of his hotel in Bogotá, Colombia, the stars of the rock world lamented the surprise loss and said goodbye to the musician. Through his social networks, Brian May, guitarist of Queen, expressed: “No. No way. I’m heartbroken. Taylor, you were family to us. Our friend, our brother, our dear son. Blessed are you. We’re going to miss you so much.” Hawkins had a close bond with the members of Queen, as he participated in May’s solo album “Another World” (1998) and was one of the main promoters for the band led until his death by Freddie Mercury to take place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
Slash, guitarist of Guns n’ Roses, wrote: “Devastated by the loss of our friend Taylor Hawkins, I have no words to express all the feelings I have for his passing. But my heart goes out to his family, his band and friends. QEPD Taylor”.” God bless Taylor. Love and peace for all his family and band,” Ringo Starr said briefly on his social networks, after learning of the death of the Foo Fighters musician.
Ozzy Osbourne said Hawkins “was truly a great person and an incredible musician” adding: “My heart, my love and my condolences go out to his wife, his children, his family, his band and his fans. See you on the other side.” Gene Simmons, bassist and singer of Kiss, claimed to be “shocked and sad to hear that Taylor Hawkins had passed away”, while Billy Idol said that the death of the drummer was “very tragic” and wished him to “rest in peace”. Also, other rock musicians and bands joined the messages, including Tom Morello, co-founder of Rage Against the Machine and former guitarist of Audioslave, Mike Portnoy, drummer and co-founder of Dream Theater, and members of the Canadian alternative rock group Nickelback, who expressed: “In absolute disbelief at the news of Taylor Hawkins. Our condolences to his family, teammates, his team, his friends and anyone who has been touched by the music he has created with Foo Fighters and so many others. This is incredibly sad.”
The Smashing Pumpkins wrote: “Taylor Hawkins 1972-2022. Our deepest condolences to his family, fans, and of course his band.”
