Culiacán, Sinaloa.- Given the high cost of agricultural inputs, one of the options that the federal and Sinaloa governments are studying is to promote that producers can produce their own inputs, such as seed and fertilizers under an environmentally friendly scheme through which they could have savings of up to 30 percent. Víctor Suárez Carrera, Undersecretary of Food Self-Sufficiency, of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the federal government, was visiting Sinaloa where he witnessed the progress made by a producer of the Costa Rican syndicate who, for the third consecutive year, is producing his own seeds at a cost of approximately one thousand 500 pesos of investment per hectare in addition to the fact that he is also producing his own nutrients of organic origin and, after the results obtained, the procedures will begin so that their properties are certified as organic, which will represent an additional ingredient for the benefit of the producer at the time of marketing their harvest.
