Jujuy: A man died after choking on a piece of meat

A 47-year-old man died after choking on a piece of meat during a barbecue in the town of Humahuaca, north of Jujuy.According to witnesses cited by the website of the newspaper El Tribuno, the man drowned while eating, lost consciousness and was lying on the floor. Paramedics showed up immediately but could do nothing to revive him. Shortly after, personnel of the zonal assistant prosecutor were present at the scene to carry out the expertise. The investigation found that the body did not show any signs of violence, nor that his death could have been caused by the intervention of third parties. In addition, it was verified that the intake of the food produced a blockage in the airways and that this would have been what caused his death. The assistant prosecutor ordered that the rigorous examinations be carried out and that the body of the man be deposited in the morgue of the Manuel Belgrano hospital in Humahuaca.

The steps to perform the so-called Heimlich maneuver, in adults, according to the national Ministry of Health are: When a person chokes and cannot breathe, he usually puts his hands around his neck and reddens his face and neck.
I proceeded as follows:
Hug the person from behind and under their arms.
Put one of your hands in a clenched fist four fingers above his navel, in the midline of the stomach
Place your other hand on your fist.
Recline your body a little forward
Press on the abdomen backwards and upwards.
Continue the maneuver until the obstructing object comes out.

Heimlich maneuver in babies

If the little one babbles, cries, speaks or coughs, it means that air passes through his throat. You probably have a partial obstruction.
Let the little guy cough naturally. Do not hit his back or give him water, because it can move the object and complicate the obstruction.
If you do not eject the object, do the Heimlich maneuver.

What can you do if you choke while alone or are with people who don’t know what to do?

When a person chokes and can’t breathe, they usually put their hands around their neck and redden their face and neck.
I proceeded as follows:
Grab a chair and position yourself from behind.
Recline forward, until you rest your abdomen on the backrest. You have to support it between the navel and the sternum.
Put very strong pressure on the backrest so that the stuck object or food comes out.
