Rosario: Ordered preventive detention for two defendants for the attack on a policeman

A judge of first instance charged and ordered the effective preventive detention of a man and a woman, in the middle of an investigation for the shooting attack on a policeman, in the city of Rosario. According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPA), both were charged with the crimes of “doubly aggravated cover-up as co-authors and to a consummate degree” against the cash. During the hearing, at the Criminal Justice Center of Rosario, the judge of first instance, Román Lanzón, ordered preventive detention, for a period of 30 days. According to MPA, both the man and the woman had been arrested on the same day of the attack, along with three other people (two of them minors). The report detailed that the defendants are suspected of hiding a third person in their home, and a backpack containing firearms. From the Public Ministry of the Accusation, it was clarified that both defendants “would not have participated directly” in the attempted murder of the Santa Fe policeman. It was explained that the action of the man and the woman was after the fact, when one of the arrested teenagers was escaping from the police. And it was added that the defendants hid it inside the house. Meanwhile, the attacked officer “continues to be hospitalized stable and on an artificial respirator,” after being shot by the five subjects during the control operation in the southern area of Rosario.
