Mayor’s Office Cuauhtémoc and CDMX now face each other over the closure of La Bota

The Government of Mexico City, headed by Claudia Sheinbaum, and the Mayor’s Office Cuauhtémoc, with Sandra Cuevas, began a new conflict after the closure of the Hostería La Bota, located in the center of the capital of the country.
Since June 11, the business located on San Jerónimo Street in the Historic Center denounced the closure as “arbitrary, cunning and without foundation.”
“Our establishment operates completely in order, observing rules, laws and guidelines. Our soul hurts like nothing, it hurts us deeply,” said La Bota, who has organized artistic days to protest against the closure.

On Tuesday, the head of government said she asked the Institute of Administrative Verification of Mexico City (INVEA) to review the case so that the establishment can return to operation.

On this subject, I inform you that I have asked the @inveacdmx to review how we can help @HosteriaLaBota reopen its doors in our Historic Center. https://t.co/lfgdWrNBED

Meanwhile, the Cuauhtémoc Mayor’s Office defended the closure under the file AC/DGG/SVR/OVE/701/2020, arguing that La Bota did not accredit documentation in matters of civil protection and for the “use of belongings on public roads”.
“Neither was there an internal program or its exemption or a document that proves to be enrolled in an outdoor program,” he said in a statement.

In addition, the mayor’s office also announced the suspension of the El Barbaján bar, adjacent to the Hostería La Bota, for “not having a neighborhood impact permit.”
“It was notified the same day and the interested parties were ordered to appear before the authority that issued the suspension to prove that they comply with the applicable regulations and the suspension is lifted,” he said.
Recently, a room of the Court of Administrative Justice of Mexico City ordered the dismissal of Mayor Sandra Cuevas, for the 41-day closure of Deportivo Guelatao; the official assured that she will challenge the resolution because she maintained that she decreed the closure before rulings of failures in the structure of the place.
Cuevas has accused Morena, the party of the head of government, of promoting legal remedies against her to remove her from office.
The mayor has already faced accusations and complaints from capital police who accused her of assaulting them. For this case, Cuevas had to give them compensation and offer a public apology.
Even on June 3, INVEA suspended the reconstruction work of Plaza Garibaldi, announced by the mayor of Cuauhtémoc, due to lack of permits.
Cuevas has been criticized for some of her proposals and government actions, such as wanting to make a new corridor in the Zona Rosa and ordering that the signs of commercial stalls located in the mayor’s office be removed.
