Sebastián Villa was summoned to an inquiry for the cause of sexual abuse

The Boca Juniors footballer, Sebastián Villa, was summoned to an investigative statement for next June 24, within the framework of the case that investigates him for sexual abuse with carnal access towards a young woman. According to judicial sources informed Télam, the striker will have to appear at 10.30 a.m. at the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office of Gender Violence of Esteban Echeverría. The latter is in charge of Vanesa González, who is carrying out the investigation into sexual abuse. On the 7th of this month, the prosecutor had requested the arrest of the Xeneize idol because she considered that there is a danger of escape, as a result of the expectation of punishment that the crime has (from 6 to 15 years in prison, not releaseable). However, the request was rejected by the judge of Guarantees of Lomas de Zamora, Javier Maffucci Moore, who considered that the victim’s statement is not sufficient evidence to imprison him and suggested to the prosecutor González to deepen the investigation. In the letter to which Télam had access, the judge warned that although there is “a strong suspicion” that the fact has existed “with the participation of the defendant in it”,” there are “numerous inconsistencies and shortcomings both in the collection of evidence, as well as in the argumentation, substantiation and motivation of the request made.” From that ruling, the prosecutor González delved into the investigation and ordered expert reports and other proceedings, including the now summons to inquire of Villa, who has not yet testified in the case. This morning, the complainant’s lawyer, Roberto Castillo, commented that in his opinion “the prosecutor has the firm conviction that the fact is proven.” In addition, he added that surely after investigating Villa next week and completing some expert proceedings, “he will again ask for the preventive detention” of the footballer. Now comes the investigation of Villa and then the prosecutor has 15 days, plus another 15 of extension, to resolve his procedural situation. I understand that then the prosecutor there is going to request preventive detention,” he added.
