Government resolution modifies term of “First Lady” to “Cabinet of Irina Karamanos”

The Administrative Directorate of the Presidency of the Republic issued a resolution modifying the term “Cabinet of the First Lady” to “Cabinet of Irina Karamanos”.
According to the determination, the current president of the Foundations of the Presidency “will be responsible for identifying, proposing and coordinating strategic guidelines and programmatic definitions for public policies, with the aim of contributing to the eradication of inequality and discrimination of historically excluded groups, with an intersectoral approach, human rights and gender perspective with emphasis on indigenous peoples, migration, gender and sex-generic diversity”.
Likewise, the document maintains that “it will assume the ceremonial and protocol role according to the republican tradition of Chile in the official national and international activities,” added to the fact that “it will participate in those foundations of private law that do not pursue profit purposes while it corresponds to preside over the Board of Directors of the same.”
According to Radio BioBío, in this way, Karamanos would be given powers that would be duplicated with those exercised by the Ministry of Social Development or Women and Gender Equity.
