10 arrested for shooting in Topilejo, CDMX are prosecuted

A control judge decided to link 10 men arrested after the confrontation with police in Topilejo, Tlalpan, south of Mexico City, on July 12.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the judge found elements to arrest the subjects for their alleged participation in the crimes of kidnapping, homicide qualified in degree of attempt, criminal association, bribery, crimes against health, possession of firearms in the form of collection, as well as the exclusive use of the armed forces.

The judicial authority imposed pretrial detention justified by the crimes of criminal association and bribery, while for the rest of the illicit ones, informal preventive detention.
In addition, it set a four-month deadline for the closure of the investigation and declined jurisdiction for the crimes of federal jurisdiction.
Although 14 people were arrested on the day of the confrontation, four of them were released because there was not enough evidence to prove their participation in the confrontation, in which four people were also rescued and three policemen were injured.

After the confrontation in Topilejo, a building was identified in San Andrés Totoltepec, where long weapons and drugs were secured.
They also secured 10 long guns, including a Barret.50 rifle and a machine gun; three handguns; 12 grenades; ballistic vests and 74 chargers.
According to capital authorities, the detainees are alleged members of the Sinaloa Cartel, assuring in the first interviews that they are originally from this entity, as well as the type of weapons they had.
