Back in 1997 “Hercules” was released, a film by Ron Clements and John Musker that by many elements became one of the most powerful of the House of Mickey Mouse: a great soundtrack, by the winner of several Oscars, Alan Menken; quite humor, female empowerment, and a good story to tell.
“Hercules” will have a new live action version
Now, Disney is preparing the realistic adaptation of its animated classic, in turn inspired by Greek mythology, with the direction by Guy Ritchie, the filmmaker who made the “Sherlock Holmes” films, but above all, who took the live action of “Aladdin” (2019) to theaters.
Alongside Ritchie, the production will feature Joe and Anthony Russo as producers. Two brothers extremely loved in the company that works with Marvel Studios, since both made important films for the universe such as “Captain America and the Winter Soldier” (2014), “Captain America: Civil War” (2016) and the closing of the Saga, “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018) and “Avengers: Endgame” (2019). Before the expectation of the fans, Joe spoke with the Games Radar + portal where he specified that the intention with “Hercules” will not be to replicate its predecessor but to generate a version for the new generations.

“It will certainly pay homage to the original with a more modern twist. What Anthony and I love about the original is how funny and subversive it is. I think we tried to adopt that sense of humor in the new version,” he said.
The first draft of the film was written by Dave Callaham (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”), so Disney is on the lookout for another screenwriter to continue the work. Regarding the cast, it should be remembered that in the original version, the artist Ricky Martin was in charge of his song “No importa la Distancia” for Latin America and gave voice to the hero. At the moment it is unknown which actresses and actors will give life to the endearing Hercules, Hades, Meg, Phill, and more.
