INM rescues 116 migrants from truck in Puebla

The National Institute of Migration (INM) of the Ministry of the Interior rescued in the state of Puebla 116 people from Cuba, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Venezuela and Panama, transported in overcrowded conditions. While carrying out immigration verification actions at a point on the Oaxaca – Izúcar De Matamoros International Highway, the Federal Migration Agents (AFM) noticed a torton-type truck covered with a tarp. In coordination with state police, INM personnel opened the truck where in total six men and three women minors accompanied by their family member or guardian were transported, as well as 73 men and 34 adult women. Upon verifying their health condition, it was identified that 91 rescued people are from Cuba, 16 from Nicaragua, four from El Salvador, three from Honduras and one from Venezuela and Panama, respectively. People were channeled to the INM facilities to continue with the administrative process, provide water and food; while the driver, his companion and the truck were at the disposal of the corresponding authorities. The members of family nuclei were under the tutelage of the System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF) in the state.
