José Bernabé, ‘La Vaca’, generator of violence in Colima arrested in CDMX

José Bernabé “N”, alias ‘La Vaca’, one of the main generators of violence in Colima, was arrested in the Miguel Hidalgo mayor’s office, said the Secretary of Security of Mexico City, Omar García Harfuch.
He pointed out that the apprehension occurred in a coordinated operation of the Ministry of National Defense and the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City.

After the arrest of José Bernabé, riots were registered in Colima and Villa de Álvarez, according to Colima Noticias.
As part of the riots, vehicle burnings and firearm detonations were reported.

The governor of Colima, Indira Vizcaino, said that the State Coordination Table for the Construction of Peace and Security is in permanent session to attend to the incidents and to carry out operations.
“We are acting to protect the population and attend to any event, all corporations are alert and coordinated,” he said.

Meanwhile, the municipality of Villa de Álvarez said that, in the face of the violent acts presented, carried out by criminal groups, by the arrest of a generator of violence in the State, the Municipal Public Security System was carrying out work to attend to the incidents reported, to guarantee the safety of the population.
José Bernabé “N” is identified as the alleged leader of the Independent Cartel of Colima, which maintains a dispute with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel for control of the entity.
Colima noticias reports that La Vaca’s group was called Los Mezcales, but they switched to the Independent Cartel of Colima.
