A former mayor of Entre Rios will be tried for sexual abuse in 2023

Fabián Constantino, former mayor of the town of Gilbert, will be tried as of February 6, 2023 for three acts of sexual abuse that are imputed to him. The complaints were made by three women who worked under him. While awaiting trial, Constantino will continue to be detained preventively by order of the Justice since it was detected that the accused failed to comply with a measure of approach on one of the victims when passing through the door of his home. Constantino served as Gilbert’s mayor until a few weeks ago until a request for intervention from the Government of Entre Ríos arrived and he decided to submit the resignation with pay for a period of 90 days. The case was investigated by the prosecutor Martina Cedrés based on the complaint of three women, two of whom are former municipal employees and reported to the Justice the different situations of abuse they suffered.

One of the complainants, Verónica Portillo, claims that she was at home with Constantino’s nephew when the then mayor abused her after offering to transfer her to her place of work. In addition, Constantino adds other complaints for having shown his member to another woman and for beating a municipal employee. At the moment, he will continue to be detained and the Oral Court has already set the beginning for February 6, 2023 with several hearings during that month, in which it will be defined whether or not he is convicted.
