Gabriela Marín, a local deputy in Morelos, was killed by armed men in Cuernavaca, the capital of the state, the State Public Security Commission reported Wednesday afternoon.
In the events, a man was also injured and there is a search operation to find the aggressors, the institution said on Twitter.

Marín represented the Morelos Progresa force within the Congress of the entity.
Governor Cuauhtémoc Blanco also published a message on Twitter, where he condemned the events, sent condolences to the family of the legislator and promised that the crime will not go unpunished.
“In Morelos we will not allow attacks that violate our society,” he said.

So far, authorities have not given further details about the attack on the deputy.
In the period from January to August of this year, Morelos registered 742 victims of intentional homicide, according to the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP).
During those same months, the entity counted 25 femicides, one of the highest figures in the whole country in 2022.
