“Kelly” Olmos: “The best way to work for pay is to fight inflation”

The designated Minister of Labor of the Nation Raquel “Kelly” Olmos in replacement of Claudio Moroni, acknowledged on Monday afternoon that “the best way to work for the salary of Argentines is to fight inflation.”
“My responsibility is to take care of the work and salary of Argentines, that is going to be my priority,” Olmos said.

He also affirmed that his responsibility in that portfolio will be “to take care of the work and salary of Argentines, that will be my priority” as asked by President Alberto Fernández.Al be consulted on actions such as a new call to the Minimum Wage Council or the granting of a fixed salary sum, Olmos said: “I’m not going to advance absolutely anything yet, I wouldn’t be responsible for my part, I’m not yet a minister at the moment.” But he reiterated the intention to “recover the salary and income of the women and men who work in our country,” while acknowledging that it will be “consistent with the policy of this Government, which advanced negotiations at the time when it was necessary.”
“We are going to work to strengthen the salary, it is the greatest commitment that our Government has, which had to endure very serious situations,” he added.

When asked about a possible meeting with the CGT, on El Destape Radio, the economist responded that the dialogue will be “with everyone,” while stressing that it will be “a bridge of unity with all workers.” He also said that he will try to bring together those who have different positions within the workers’ central “with a lot of dialogue and a lot of understanding from all sides.”
“That sector of informal workers has to access the rights that their dignity deserves,” he emphasized.

Olmos said that “the government has a very firm objective of recovering the salary” but also warned that “we have a serious problem as a society that there is a large proportion (of people) in informality who do not access work with rights.”
