Dosage, age and to whom it will apply

Girls and adolescents aged 13 and 14 who attend secondary school in Mexico City and trans women aged 11 to 49 with HIV can be vaccinated against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), a campaign that will last until December 9.
The HPV vaccination campaign was paused due to the COVID-19 health emergency, so it was not possible to vaccinate fifth and sixth grade girls, who are now in secondary school, and will finally be vaccinated.
The free campaign will be implemented in 605 schools in the 16 municipalities.

According to the Secretary of Health of Mexico City, Oliva López Arellano, the backlog is around 120,000 girls.
This vaccine focuses on two types of viruses that are most commonly associated with cervical cancer.
The single-dose vaccine will be given in public secondary schools for girls in the first and second grades.

Trans women aged 11 to 49 with HIV will be able to access the vaccine in its three-dose version at the Comprehensive Health Unit for Trans People, located in the Miguel Hidalgo mayor’s office.
López Arellano stressed that the papillomavirus is the most frequent cause of sexually transmitted infections and represents a very important risk to women’s health, without forgetting that it is associated with the appearance of cervical cancer and, in most cases, does not cause visible symptoms that can alert the patient of the infection until several years later.

The official said that the overall goal is 110,810 people vaccinated against this virus, of which 81,452 will be inoculated by the Public Health Services of the CDMX.
Meanwhile, the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) will vaccinate 23,670 people; and the Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (ISSSTE), will apply 5,688 doses.
Girls must bring their informed consent letter, which must be signed by a parent and/or guardian in order to be inoculated, as well as their vaccination card.
Other states that will be vaccinating against HPV are Puebla, Sinaloa, Sonora, Jalisco, San Luis Potosí, Quintana Roo and Michoacán.
