Carla Vizzotti recommended reinforcing vaccination and resuming the use of masks

The Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti, recommended “reinforcing vaccination” and resuming the use of the mask before the jump registered this Sunday in the weekly report of coronavirus cases. COVID-19 cases have been increasing for four weeks, from the week before this one they did it 3.8 times,” the official began, in a thread of tweets. In this context, he recommended “reinforcing vaccination and usual care.” The minister explained that the increase in cases has not yet translated into a “significant” increase in hospitalizations or deaths. “This is because the protection provided by vaccines is very strong,” he said. Therefore, he stressed that “the best way to maintain that protection is with a booster dose.” Those who were last vaccinated more than four months ago can get a new dose,” he said. “Reinforcement (whether first, second or third) is especially important for those over 50 and for people with at-risk conditions.” In recent days, along with the increase in cases, there was a growth in the application of doses. After weeks in which the peak barely exceeded 25,000 applications, during the last days up to more than 64,000 inoculations were registered. In turn, Vizzotti also recommended “resuming” some care that had been left aside with the course of the pandemic. “Cross ventilation of environments, use of mask in closed spaces and frequent hand washing,” said the head of the health portfolio. At the same time, he asked to isolate himself in case of respiratory symptoms. “Stay at home for up to 24 hours after they have passed you, to decrease the chances of transmission,” he said. Despite this series of recommendations, Vizzotti clarified that the current situation “is incomparable to the one we live in when there were still no vaccines and we were all susceptible.” That is why, every time they ask if there are going to be restrictions we answer ‘no’ and we continue to work with all the provinces to respond, as always.”
