Media mogul Michael Bloomberg wants to buy Wall Street Journal or Washington Post

Billionaire Michael Bloomberg, owner of Bloomberg News, is interested in acquiring Dow Jones, parent company of the Wall Street Journal, or the Washington Post, Axios reported, citing a source familiar with the matter.
Axios, citing the source, said Bloomberg would be interested in a possible acquisition of either company, but Dow Jones would be a stronger target.
Dow Jones, owned by News Corp, publishes the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s and MarketWatch.
In October, Rupert Murdoch had begun a process that could unite his media empire, News Corp and Fox Corp, saying they would consider combining at his behest, nearly a decade after the companies broke up.
The proposal has met with opposition from shareholders, who say a combination alone would fail to realize News Corp.’s full value.
Bloomberg wants to expand his media empire and sees Dow Jones as his ideal complement, but would buy the Post if Jeff Bezos is interested in selling, Axios reported.
Bloomberg, the Washington Post and Dow Jones did not immediately respond to Reuters’ requests for comment.
