British Prime Minister Fined by Police After Controversial Video Went Viral

In the last hours, a video went viral in which the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, is seen speaking to the camera from the back seat of a moving car. The controversy was unleashed because the official was not wearing a seat belt. In the video that was originally disseminated through the official social networks of Sunak, who spoke about his policy of territorial rebalancing during a visit to the county of Lancashire, was quickly removed but soon went viral as he exposed the minister in breach of a British law that is more than 30 years old. Through a government spokesman, the conservative leader who took office in October 2022 acknowledged the mistake and apologized for his “brief error of judgment”: “The Prime Minister removed his seat belt to film a short video. He fully accepts that it was a mistake and asks for forgiveness,” they said. However, the apology did not prevent Lancashire security forces from publicly issuing the situation. Discreetly and without giving names, they let it be known that the “42-year-old man from London” who “does not wear a seat belt as a passenger in a moving car”, received a fine. Although they did not specify the exact amount to be paid by the Prime Minister, an infringement of this type is usually around 100 pounds although in some cases it can rise to 500. For its part, Downing Street assured that “of course it will pay the fine.” Sunak does not know how to wear a seat belt … a train service, the economy, nor this country,” Labour Party members criticized, while the Liberal Democrats called the breach of a fundamental safety law “shameful”.
