Prior to the Buenos Aires PJ summit in Merlo, Kicillof, Kirchner and the mayors met in La Plata

In the run-up to the meeting of Buenos Aires Peronism to be held in the city of Merlo, the governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof; the president of the provincial PJ and national deputy, Máximo Kirchner; ministers and mayors met today in La Plata, hours before the meeting to be attended by Interior Minister Eduardo “Wado” de Pedro; and Economy, Sergio Massa. In the meeting at the Government House in La Plata were also the Chief of Cabinet, Martín Insaurralde; the Minister of Government, Cristina Álvarez Rodríguez; the Minister of Finance, Pablo López; his counterpart of Community Development, Andrés Larroque; the community chiefs Federico Achával (Pilar), Jorge Ferraresi (Avellaneda), Juan Andreotti (San Fernando), Mario Secco (Ensenada), Carlos Ramil (Escobar), the Buenos Aires deputy Mariano Cascallares and the president of the Province Group, Gustavo Menéndez. The meeting is part of the round of meetings that have been taking place since 2022 and addressed issues such as “the continuity of the execution of the budget approved by the Legislature, the infrastructure plan carried out by the provincial government and the works that the municipalities of Buenos Aires have underway, taking into account the ruling of the Supreme Court of Justice that directly impacts the financing of all Argentine provinces,” the province said in a statement. It was indicated that the educational and health transformation programs that are part of the priorities established for 2023 were also analyzed. And it was highlighted “the concern about the implications of the arbitrary ruling (of the Supreme Court in favor of the city of Buenos Aires on co-participation) that requires a detailed monitoring of each area with the firm intention of preventing the people of Buenos Aires from paying the consequences of the political decision of the Court to solve the electoral campaign of the opposition.” In the city of Merlo, west of the Buenos Aires suburbs, they will meet from the 19 officials, provincial Justicialist leadership and mayors in the La Colonial estate, a scenario that is usually used for political meetings and that on this occasion will be the platform chosen by Buenos Aires Peronism to “show unity at the beginning of the election year,” said spokesmen of the sector. The conclave will also serve to show a kind of unity and the functioning of the “discussion space, with the participation of all the actors of the Frente de Todos, which exists in the Province,” the sources added. The meeting will also be attended by leaders of Buenos Aires Peronism who were mayors for several periods and who are now in charge of ministries or other portfolios, such as the head of National Public Works, Gabriel Katopodis (San Martin), and the Chief of Staff of the Province of Buenos Aires, Martin Insaurralde (Lomas de Zamora). For his part, Massa confirmed his attendance, but warned that he will arrive later since a few hours before the PJ meeting he will meet with the Agricultural Liaison Table at the Ministry of Economy. The meeting in Merlo will also involve leaders of Massa’s Renewal Front; of Nuevo Encuentro, of Martín Sabbatella, and of the Frente Grande, which in the province of Buenos Aires is led by the mayor of Ensenada, Mario Secco.
