They detected a new positive case of avian influenza in the province of Neuquén

The National Service of Health and Food Quality (Senasa) detected today a new case of avian influenza H5 in a wild bird found dead in the province of Neuquén.En samples taken from two gallaretas found dead in Laguna Blanca, 38 kilometers from the city of Zapala, one of them tested positive for the presence of the disease, The health agency confirmed today. The samples were taken by the agents of the North Patagonia Regional Center of Senasa, Martín Cavallari and Luciano Mammoni, who went to the area after a notification made by park rangers of the Laguna National Park Blanca.De this way, of the more than 100 notifications received by Senasa so far, there are nine confirmed cases in wild and backyard birds (five in Córdoba, one in Salta, one in Santa Fe, one in Jujuy and one in Neuquén). It is worth mentioning that the aforementioned agency works on sanitary and raking actions in the region where the findings were made, as well as in Córdoba, Jujuy, Salta, and Santa Fe, while in Entre Ríos it strengthened border controls, due to the occurrence of a case of disease in Uruguay.On the other hand, the Government decided on Tuesday to extreme sanitary controls at border crossings and the rest of the national territory to Contain the advance of avian influenza.
