5 questions to Hipnótica in the framework of the celebration of the 10 years of his first album “A la luz”

The Cordoban pop duo Hipnótica, formed by Nahuel Barbero and Hernán Ortiz, is celebrating the anniversary of their first studio material “A la luz”, released in mid-2012, and to commemorate this moment they released two reversions of this album “Como Siempre and “Desprender”, which featured the participation of the renowned Argentine singer Emmanuel Horvilleur. Filo.News spoke with the group that emerged from Rio Tercero about the 10 years of their first album, their upcoming releases and the present of Cordoban pop. “This year the goal is to work on a new album. In fact, we have already started that work and there are armed things, “he said in an exclusive talk with this media.1-What can you tell about these two reversions of your first album?Nahuel Barbero: It’s the first time in our career that we started to revert because we were struck by the number of years that were fulfilled. It was an album that we made in our native Rio Tercero in a very unconscious way and with the resources that were at hand. It’s like getting back into what that starting point was. It was a beautiful task to give the songs a little bit of everything we’ve learned over the years. In addition, we had the opportunity to share music with Ema Horvilleur. While we have a friendship of years, it was the first time we worked together with him and it was a dream come true as it is a direct influence for both of us. Hernán Ortiz: Little did we imagine that one of the songs on the album we did at our old people’s house would be reinterpreted by Ema, who was a direct influence while we were making “A la luz”. It’s like closing the circle so to speak.
2 The story of the creation of “A la luz” is very interesting, what do you remember about the creative process of that album?NB: It’s all very crazy because at the time we did that question of making your own records was a little less at hand than today. That album, talking a little about technical issues, we recorded with the computer that Hernán had mostly in the living room of my old people’s house during a January. We did it with a precarious microphone lent to us by a friend and without an audio plate. Also, we recorded most of the instruments ourselves because it was what was at hand. In fact, in two songs he recorded the bass Franco Saglietti of Francisca y los Exploradores, while in another song was Juan Gavioli, a great musician from Córdoba.
HO: I feel like at that time there was a conscious thing about doing it anyway. I feel like we were inspired and motivated. At that time, a very nice artistic movement emerged in Córdoba by the hand of Rayos Laser, De la River and Juan Ingaramo, among others, and that motivated us a lot. Looking at it from a distance, from the technical side, it is weak, but on the other hand the desire to do despite the difficulties was noticed.
3-What do you think of the great present that Cordoban pop is going through?
HO: It’s crazy. I feel that together we are motivated to start our paths. It is very crazy that nowadays Juan Ingaramo is a central figure of national pop and that the Laser Rays have toured Mexico and have been nominated for the Latin Grammys. Each one was making his way in a very concrete way and it makes us very happy and proud to be part of that list of people from Córdoba who today are dedicated to music. It is a pride to carry the flag of Córdoba.
4-What is coming in the future of Hypnotics?NB: This year the goal is to work on a new album. In fact, we have already started that work and there are things put together. The idea is to finish the album this year and release the first advance in these months. Our priority in terms of energy and little is put into making this album. In addition, we want to do a show in Capital Federal and another in Córdoba linked to the beginning of this new stage.5-What objectives are set for the future as a group?HO: I think traveling is a clear goal. Last year we traveled to Spain for the first time and it was a beautiful experience. NB: At the same time, we want to solidify these years of work. We feel that the group is in a moment close to being able to capitalize on everything done in various ways. By this I mean being able to reach more people and being able to play in bigger venues. We want to start reaping the fruits that we have been sowing for so long and I think we are close to achieving it.
