Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame

Scotland’s Alex Ferguson and France’s Arsene Wenger were inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame today for their contribution to the development and success of the tournament and became the first coaches to be recognised with this distinction. Ferguson, who won thirteen English league titles, and Wenger, who managed 828 games, more than anyone in history, are the latest additions to a list of winners that includes David Beckham, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane, Wayne Rooney, Peter Schmeichel and Paul Scholes. The native of Govan, Scotland, joined Manchester United in the 1992/1993 season and retired after 26 years with 13 titles won. In addition, he won 528 of the 810 games he managed, was named coach of the year 11 times and won the monthly award for best coach 27 times, a competition record. Commenting on the distinction he received, the former Red Devils coach commented: “I am delighted to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. It’s a real honor when you receive recognition like this. This award is not just about me, but about the work at Manchester United and the relationship we had for so many years, so I’m also proud of the club, the coaching staff and my players.”
Wenger joined Arsenal in 1996 and won the title three times, including the 2003-2004 season, when Arsenal’s “Invincibles” won the league without losing a game. He is also the coach who directed the most games in history with 828 games.  “I would like to be known as someone who loved Arsenal, who respected the values of the club and left it in a position where it can grow and become even bigger,” he said.
