Sofia Coppola presents the trailer for “Priscilla”: the story not told by Elvis

The prestigious filmmaker Sofia Coppola, also an Oscar winner (for “Lost in Translation”) presents the first preview of her next film, “Priscilla” that will tell the story this time not from the point of view of Elvis Presley but his wife. After Baz Luhrmann (“The Great Gatsby”, “Moulin Rouge”) premiered the recent version nominated for Academy Awards, with Austin Butler and Olivia DeJonge focused from the figure of Colonel Tom Parker -his representative played by Tom Hanks-, the director adapts Priscilla’s book, Elvis and Me (Elvis and me, 1985), where he compiles his memoirs, in his imminent film. The film will accompany the growth of the protagonist, in the skin of actress Cailee Spaeny (“Titans of the Pacific: The Insurrection” and participated in “Mare of Easttown”), from her adolescence to her youth, years that were crossed by her love for the King of Pop -personified by Jacob Elordi (“Euphoria”, “The stand of kisses”)-, whom he accompanied in light and dark circumstances. Together they had a daughter, Lisa Marie, who passed away at age 54 in January 2023. It was his mother who confirmed the unfortunate event.” Priscilla” will be Coppola’s third collaboration with A24, following his previous “On the Rocks” (2020) and “The Bling Ring” (2013). For its part, the studio reaffirms the prestige of its film label that earned it the Oscar for “Everything everywhere at the same time” and also for Brendan Fraser for “The Whale”.“Priscilla”, by Sofia Coppola.Sofia Coppola is also producing the film — the second adaptation of the book after Larry Peerce’s TV movie of the same name — alongside Youree Henry, Lorenzo Mieli of The Apartment, Fremantle Company and American Zoetrope.
