Support for countrymen for Anti-Immigrant Law in Florida

Follow-up and accompaniment will be given to repatriated and returning Michoacans.
Morelia, Michoacán. – In order to provide support to Michoacans living in Florida, United States, before the anti-immigrant law SB 1718, the third ordinary session of the State Migration Council was held, in which agreements were created that will generate different lines of action in favor of nationals, according to a statement.
Actions will be coordinated with the Institute of Mexicans Abroad (IME) to disseminate the Legal Assistance Program for Mexican Persons through External Legal Advisories in the United States (Pale); and a guide of minimum questions will be developed and disseminated to guide undocumented immigrants.
It was also agreed to monitor through the National Institute of Migration (INM) the
Repatriated Michoacans, in order to identify them and be able to offer them
support for their possible return to their municipality of origin, as well as providing advice on the programs of the Secretariat of Migrants (Semigrante).

Return Michoacans will be accompanied so that, in coordination with the National Employment Service, job offers are identified that allow them to reintegrate into their communities of origin.
In addition, the programs that the state and the federation have for migrants who return to the state will be promoted, and psychological support actions will be implemented for people who may face processes of repatriation and separation from their families.
Information materials on migrants’ rights will be disseminated and published in indigenous languages to make them more accessible; In addition, audiovisual materials will be developed to facilitate their dissemination to all audiences.
Finally, a commission composed of eight members of the State Migration Council was created to follow up and continue the agreements generated during the session.
