Mexico. According to data reported by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), in the last 30 years 50 percent of donkeys in Mexico have disappeared.
In 1991 there were one million 500 thousand, whose figure was reduced to 581 thousand 401.
Due to the increase in technological use, they were forgotten by the population that used them for field work.

Since then, their basic care such as food, medical attention, some were left aside, with some victims of abuse.
For this reason, several people, such as Ana Ivonne Alfaro, collaborator of Burrolandia, work in the care of this species. “Burrolandia begins with this concern, seeing that there were fewer and fewer donkeys. Otumba is known as the cradle of the donkey and despite this, there are no donkeys here,” said Ana Ivonne.
According to experts, these animals are considered quite intelligent, which have very developed senses of sight, smell and especially hearing, with which they can perceive instability, which is why in ancient times they were used to trace paths, because being extremely cautious, they only traveled safe terrain.
In addition, it is believed that these animals can perfectly recognize their owners, even after 10 years without seeing them.
