Crisis in Independiente: Cavallero resigned from his position as manager

In the midst of the problems that Independiente is going through after the dismissal of Ricardo Zielinski due to the bad results, Pablo Cavallero, manager of the institution, presented his resignation. The local loss against Colón de Santa Fe in the debut in the League Cup left clear repercussions in the “Red” squad. Located in 24th place in the annual table, six units from last place, the Avellaneda club is obliged to add points to avoid relegation at the end of the year. After the defeat, it was Zielinski who was the first to take the blame and decided to resign from his position at the head of the first team. In full search of a replacement, Cavallero, who was pointed repeatedly by the bad moment that the club is going through, was the next sacrificed by the leadership to calm the spirits. According to recent information, the former goalkeeper had the decision ready after the game against Colón last Saturday, so he never worked on the search for a new coach. While the leadership tries to get a replacement, Hugo Tocalli – coordinator of the children’s youth divisions – was in charge of the squad. In recent days different names sounded to fill Zielinski’s place, however, many of them quickly communicated their refusal. Ariel Holan, Gustavo Alfaro and Ricardo Gareca were the first to appear on the radar of the leadership, but they have already rejected the proposal. From the refusal of the coaches, the name of Carlos Tevez appeared in the folder and, as reported from the club, the former Boca Juniors striker showed a good predisposition that convinced the leadership. With experience only in command of Rosario Central -6 wins, 10 draws and 7 defeats-, the coach would have a complicated start in Avellaneda, since next Sunday Independiente will receive Vélez Sarsfield, and then must be measured against Gimnasia and Huracán, two teams that fight not to descend.
