Now 12: companies that did not subscribe to the price agreement suspended the program

The Ministry of Commerce reported that a group of companies that did not subscribe to the price agreement that the Government extended until October 31 will not be able to sell through the Ahora 12 program. The companies that will be suspended payment in 12 subsidized installments are linked to clothing, footwear and appliances. The objective is to pressure companies to sign up to the price agreement and freeze more products. Until now, clothing companies agreed on costs or froze prices, they did so in exchange for access to dollars for imports of inputs. However, as there are very few companies that access official dollars, the negotiation ceased to be effective. Secretary of Commerce, Matías Tombolini | The government has already advanced in negotiations with supermarkets and food companies so that price remarkings do not exceed 5% per month at least until the elections. In the case of appliance companies, increases of 25% were agreed until the end of October, as in the case of motorcycles. With the automakers, it was agreed to freeze the price of an economic car model by brand, in exchange for unlocking imports.” To date, it is made known that the following companies have not subscribed to the Fair Prices agreement, which is why the goods provided by them cannot be reached by the financing provided in the Now 12 program, “said the note from the Secretariat of Commerce to the Chamber of Credit and Purchase Cards (Atacyc). The government’s view is to be able to lower inflation in September, after the acceleration that occurred in August and some private consultants have already projected between 10 and 11%. Also, control the price variation of October, which is the month of the presidential elections and that the data, unlike the PASO, will be known prior to the elections. In recent days, agreements were also closed to freeze prices of fuel, prepaid, medicines, bus fares, trains and possibly electricity and gas.
