Morelia, Michoacán.- With a bag of 7 million pesos for this year, the Government of Michoacán accompanies for the first time with economic resources the women victims of violence who leave shelters where it contributes to their development and that of their children.
“Through the Support Program for Women Graduates of Shelters, we will be helping an average of 200 women and 150 children who leave these shelters annually, where they also receive protection, food, legal advice, psychological care, social work, and in the most extreme cases, we even provide them with clothes and shoes, since many arrive only with what they are wearing,” The Secretary of Substantive Equality and Development of Michoacan Women, Carolina Rangel Gracida, explained.
He recalled that the comprehensive accompaniment is provided for up to six months, and includes economic support of 6,223 per month, which is equivalent to a minimum wage, which seeks to promote economic autonomy and establish their life plan.
The resources for the financing of this program come from the Fund for the Strengthening of Peace (Fortapaz), granted by the state government, and that for the first time are also applied to the actions for the attention to the Alert of Gender Violence against Women in the entity, providing a response to the victims to restore their rights.
