Diana Mondino proposes creating an “organ market”

The national deputy elected for La Libertad Avanza (LLA), Diana Mondino, expressed her support for the idea of an “organ market,” which she described as “fantastic.” However, he explained that his idea differs from the sale of organs. In that sense, Mondino said that “the market is the transaction,” which “does not mean that they are going to charge you for it.” At the same time, he noted that Justina’s Law should “work more proactively.” In dialogue with LN+, the legislator-elect said: “What is the organ market? You need a kidney and there is no one in your inner circle who is compatible with you or who can or wants to donate it to you. But maybe there’s someone on the other end who’s compatible with someone else, who’s compatible with someone else, who gives it to you. There’s a man who’s won the Nobel Prize for this, and that’s Alvin Roth.” Roth was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2012 for his research in various areas, including kidney donations and exchange. However, the model generates mixed opinions. In fact, in 2018, the European Union categorically rejected the proposal to implement it. However, under that framework, Mondino questioned the regulations: “How do you innovate, create something new, grow in your company if you have things that limit you or regulate you? Who would have invented this little thing (on the cell phone) if the man had to wait for someone to give him permission to start something?”
